Product description
Chromic anhydride (chromium oxide, chromium oxide VI, chromium trioxide) - black-red with a violet tint crystals - plates or needles. It is hygroscopic, spreads in air, is a very strong oxidizing agent: it can cause ignition of paper, alcohol also flashes when it comes in contact with CrO3 crystals. When heated, the drug turns black, at **6 ° C it melts into a red-brown liquid. Above **0 ° C decomposes with the elimination of oxygen and the formation of Cr2O3, at **5 ° C decomposition ends. Chromic anhydride is highly soluble in water (*2.*8% at *0 ° C), and a solution of chromic acid H2CrO4 is formed.
