Standardized Pyrethrins Extract .
Botanical Source: Pyreyhrum cineriifoliun Trebr
Preparation: pyrethrins is obtained from comminuted Pyreyhrum cineriifoliun flower by extraction with certain solvents.
Herbal description: A dicotyledonous plants of Compositae pyrethrum drug Pyrethrum cinerariaefolium Trev. Inflorescence extract, also known as: natural pyrethrum. Is composed of pyrethrum ( Pyreyhrum cineriifoliun Trebr ) separating and extracting with insecticidal effect of the active ingredient. It includes pyrethrin I ( pyrethrins I ), pyrethrum, II ( pyrethrins II ), melon chrysanthemum element I (cinerin I ), II ( cinerin II melon chrysanthemum Jasmine chrysanthemum ), I ( jasmolin I ), jasmine, chrysanthemum element II ( jasmolin I ).

Studies of the product: The natural pyrethrins are contact poisons which quickly penetrate the nerve system of the insect. A few minutes after application, the insect cannot move or fly away. But, a "knockdown dose" does not mean a killing dose. The natural pyrethrins are swiftly detoxified by enzymes in the insect. Thus, some pests will recover. To delay the enzyme action so a lethal dose is assured, organophosphates, carbamates, or synergists may be added to the pyrethrins.

Semisynthetic derivatives of the chrysanthemumic acids have been developed as insecticides. These are called pyrethroids and tend to be more effective than natural pyrethrins while they are less toxic to mammals. One common synthetic pyrethroid is allethrin.
