Working Principle



This kind of hydrogen generator takes liquid ammonia as the source. Having being vaporized, the ammonia then is heated and decomposes into the mixed gas with *5% nitrogen and *5% hydrogen under the action of catalyst. In theory, one Kg of ammonia can produce 2.*4 Nm3 mixed gas. 

Based on the principle that the molecular sieve adsorbs different ammonia and water at different temperature, high purity gas is produced from the decomposed mixed gas by heating and regeneration at normal temperature.

Technical Process



The decompressed liquid ammonia enters the decomposing furnace in which there is activated nickel catalyst after gasified in the vaporizer, the nickel catalyst would decompose at a temperature of **0
ºC~**0ºC and generate high temperature; The high temperature gas would make a heat exchange with the gaseous ammonia in the heat exchanger so the gaseous ammonia would absorb heat and heat up and then enter the decomposing furnace to decompose; The decomposed gas after heat exchange would further cool down in the chiller (ammonia chilling) and then enter the dryer (5A molecular sieve) which will remove the water and other impurities. Its purity can achieve: With dew point of **0 ºC, less than 5PPM relict ammonia. Generally there are two dryers on of which absorbs and dries the decomposed hydrogen and nitrogen that entered and the other releases the water and relict ammonia in heating situation (generally **0~**0ºC). Alternately used, the two dryers can be used repeatedly.

Features and Advantages 



The gas made in this method is a good protective gas which can be used widely in semiconductor industry, metallurgical industry and other industries and science research which need protective gas. 

1. Ammonia is easy to decompose: With not very high pressure, under catalysts, and a temperature controlled at **0~**0
ºC, the ammonia will nearly completely decompose, with the decomposing rate reaching *9.9%. 

2. Easy to refine the gas: As the raw material, the liquid ammonia is of very high purity. The volatile impurities are only little inert gas and water dissolved in the liquid ammonia and there is nearly no oxygen. M
eanwhile, under such conditions, the ammonia decomposition is irreversible. So the water can be removed by adsorbing with a dew point of **0 ºCwhile the gas doing through the 5A molecular sieve. By this way, the nonmetallic elements, for example, chlorine and oxygen which are unpopular in semiconductor industry can be removed. 

3. In China, the liquid ammonia as raw material is accessible at a low price and the raw material consumption is also relatively smaller( In theory, each Kg of ammonia can create 2.*4 Nm3 mixed gas).
