Indonesia is famous as one of the best coffee producing country in the world. Since ancient times, coffee is a beverage that has been enjoyed by all people regardless of socioeconomic background. The term A Cup of Java-known in the West as a cup of coffee which is identical to the island of Java. Priangan region is the first place the development of the coffee plantations in Indonesia.

Historical records show that in ***6 the Mayor Asterdam, Nicholas Witsen ordered the commander of the Dutch troops in Malabar India, Adrian Van Ommen, to bring arabica coffee seeds to the archipelago, but this first seedlings fail to grow because of flooding. The second coffee development effort was reported in ***9. The first experiment was conducted in the area cottage coffee, Batavia. After grow well there, the Dutch established the first coffee plantation in West Java Priangan forced cultivation system. After coffee development in almost all Java in ***0, the Dutch began to develop arabica coffee plantations in Sumatra, Bali, Sulawesi, and East Islands.

           VOC make sided agreement with the local authorities, where the natives are required to grow coffee that must be submitted to the VOC. This agreement called Koffiestelsel (coffee system). High-quality coffee beans from West Java land flooded Europe. Java coffee Preanger when it is so well known in Europe that Europeans call instead of a cup of coffee, but a cup of Java (a cup of java). Until the mid**9th century Preanger Java coffee is the best in the world.
