The gOods: tannEd fish Skin Atlantic leather offers tanned, coloured leather made from the thin,- yet very strong, fish skin in various finishes. The conservational methods have been developed from traditional tanning and newly developed technologies. Our mission is to maintain the Icelandic tradition of making the best use of what we are allotted in life. Using all parts of the catch in the most imaginative ways is both a new and an old concept in a harsh environment and consist with the modern Eco- efficiency. Fish tongues and fish cheeks are still a delicacy in Icelandic restaurants. The fisheries in Iceland are highly regulated by the authorities for efficiency and conservation of fish stocks. The catch is used for human consumption and the skin would go to waste if we did not use it for new purposes. AnD what delightful PurPoses! OuR Products Fish skin is *0% of the total weight of each beast. It makes a luxuriously thin type of leather with an interesting surface. When the fish scales are scraped off they leave a pattern in the leather, which is unique for each species of fish and an interesting texture to the products. Because the skin is always halved during the fish process each piece of leather is long and proportionally thin. Atlantic Leather is mostly made from three species of fish: Atlantic Salmon, Ocean Catfish and Nile Perch.
