The wire and cable industry is an important supporting industry for
China\'s economic construction, widely used in various fields of
the national economy, accounting for 1/4 of China\'s electrical
industry, and is the second largest industry in the mechanical
industry after the automotive industry. Among them, the wires used
for indoor decoration are mainly PVC insulated cables with a rated
voltage of 450/750V or below, also known as cloth wires.
The assessment of wire quality is mainly conducted by professional
inspection institutions, and the main technical indicators in the
report are as follows:
1. Conductor DC resistance. Directly reflecting the current
carrying capacity of the wire, which is commonly referred to as how
much load it can carry. This indicator is related to the conductor
material, conductor cross-sectional area (wire specification),
which is also the wire diameter.
2. Finished product withstand voltage test. The main assessment is
whether there is leakage in the external insulation of the wire.
This indicator is related to the insulation material and
manufacturing process.
3. Insulation (sheath) thickness and mechanical properties. Mainly
assess the service life and environment of the wires. If the
insulation thickness is too thin or deviated from the core, it is
easy to cause damage in the thin position during installation or
use, resulting in leakage. Wires using inferior insulation
materials have a short service life.
1. Preferred products from legitimate manufacturers and merchants.
The wires packaged in trays should have a certificate of
conformity, and the wire body should be printed with the factory
name or trademark, voltage, 3C mark, etc. Manufacturers often
produce fake and inferior wires as "three no" products, but there
are also ambiguous identification of origin on them, such as "Made
in China", "Made in a certain province or city in China", which is
actually equivalent to not indicating the origin.
2. The conductor materials used for wiring mainly include copper
and aluminum. When purchasing, the corresponding specifications
should be selected based on the load used, such as using 1.5mm2
copper wire or 2.5mm2 aluminum wire for lighting circuits, using
2.5mm2 copper wire or 4mm2 aluminum wire for air conditioners,
microwave ovens, ovens, etc. Choosing the appropriate
specifications of electrical wires can avoid short circuits and
fires caused by insufficient current carrying capacity of
small-sized wires; Secondly, when selecting and purchasing,
attention should be paid to the quality of the conductor. Qualified
copper core wires should use purple red, shiny, and soft copper
materials, while counterfeit copper core wires have purple black,
yellow, or white copper cores with many impurities, poor mechanical
strength, poor toughness, and can easily break with a little force.
Moreover, if multiple copper wires are used, they often have wire
breakage and short service life.
3. The outer skin used for wiring is polyvinyl chloride insulation
material. Qualified wire insulation should have a smooth appearance
and clear surface printing. From the observation of the wire head,
the insulation should be uniform and not deviate from the core.
Some fake and inferior wires may appear to have a thick insulation
layer, but in fact, most of them are made of recycled plastic. Over
time, the insulation layer will age and leak electricity.
4. High quality wires are generally within the specified
weight range, with slightly lighter products.
