Description
Application:
Tellurium Dioxide is primary used in the manufacture of compound
TeO2 single crystal, material for electronic element and
anticorrosive agent etc.
Tellurium Dioxide can also be used as contitional glass former,
which means it will form a glass with small molar additional of a
second compound such as an oxide or holide.
TeO2 glasses have high refractive indices and transmite into the
mid-infrared part of the eletromagnetic spectrum, therefore they
are of technological interest for optical wavegnides.
Tellurite glasses have also been shown to exhibit Raman gain up to
*0 times that of silica, useful in optical fiber amplication.
The monocrystal of tellurium dioxide can be used in infrared
and acousto-optic devices, especially as infrared windows, and used
in electrical components, while tellurium dioxide TeO2 powder can
be used as glass former, rubber vulcanizing accelerator and
catalyst or addictive in electroplating and conductive silver paste
industries.
This white solid TeO2 powder will become yellowish after heating
and turn dark yellowish red after fusing. As a kind of
amphoteric compound, tellurium dioxide is basically insolvable
in water or ammonia, yet solvable in strong acid and alkali.
