Source: The fruit of Lycium barbarum L. for the nightshade of
Ningxia.
Plant morphology: thick shrubs, sometimes small trees, up to *5 cm
in height, with thorns. Leaves alternate or several clustered on
short branches, long elliptic lanceolate or ovate oblong, 2 ~ 3cm
long, 2 ~ 6mm wide, base wedge-shaped and extended into the handle,
whole. Flowers axillary, often 1 ~ several clusters born on short
branches; calyx cup-shaped; corolla funnel-shaped, pink or purple.
Berries are elliptical, *0 to *0 mm long, 5 to *0 mm in diameter,
and red. Flowering period from May to September, Hong period from
July to October, was born in the hillside, field sunny drying
place. The main production is Ningxia, Gansu, Qinghai, Inner
Mongolia and Xinjiang.
