HELIC Ammonia Breath Test (HELIC ABT) with an indicator tube and an automatic testing device is designed for fast and specific detection ofHelicobacter pylori infection, and is also used for specific follow-ups and for anti-H.pylory therapy effectiveness. The test-system can be used by clinical diagnostic laboratories, gastroenterologists, physicians, pediatricians and general practitioners.
The principle of operation of the HELIC ABT is based on a change in color of the indicator tube while the exhaled air is passing through it. The automatic test device scans the color of indicator and also collects a sample of the exhaled air.
During the patient examination two air samples are selected: before and after taking a portion of unlabelled urea *2C. If the patient is infected with Helicobacter pylori, after taking a portion of unlabelled urea *2C, the ammonia in the mouth cavity air will increase and the indicator composition in the tube will change its color from yellow to blue. The device reads and compares the color change, after that gives the result.
The device consists of the sample collection block and optical scanner - both of them are driven by software from the PC.
