DIN 1.***4 AISI L6 Tool Steel is a versatile, oil-hardening tool steel with low-distortion in heat treatment that is characterized by very good toughness.

> Better shock-resistance than highly alloyed steels.

> Good combination of hardness and toughness, good toughness at lower hardness levels, good wear-resistance at high hardness levels.

> Good safe-hardening and non-deforming properties characteristics of oil-hardening steels.

Heat treatment:

Forge: at ***0â„ƒ****5â„ƒ Cool slowly and anneal then.

Annealing: Heating slowly and uniformly to **0~**0â„ƒ, furnace cooling to **0â„ƒ at a rate *0~*0â„ƒ/h. Hardness max. HB **5

Stress Relieving: Heat to **0~**5â„ƒ, furnace cooling.

Hardening: Heating to **0~**5â„ƒ, holding *0 minutes per *5 mm. Quenched: By oil.

Tempering: Heating to **5~**0â„ƒ, holding *0 minutes per *5 mm. Air-cooling. Hardness HRC *2 to HRC *5

APPLICATIONS: L6 tool steel applications for punches and dies, cold forming tools, and coining dies.
