Aescin or escin is a mixture ofsaponinswithanti-inflammatory,vasoconstrictorandvasoprotectiveeffects found inAesculus hippocastanum(the horse chestnut). Aescin is the main active compound in horse chestnut, and is responsible for most of its medicinal properties.
