Hyaluronate gel filler is a glycosaminoglycan disaccharide composed of alternately repeating units of D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. It is naturally occurring in the extracellular matrix found in many human tissues, including skin, synovial fluid of joints, vitreous fluid of the eye, and scaffolding within cartilage.
Used as Ophthalmic Viscoelastic Device (OVD) in Anterior and posterior segment surgical procedures include:1. Cataract extraction with or without implantation of an intraocular lens2. Corneal transplant surgery3. Glaucoma filtering surgery4. Secondary lens implantation.
