General introduction about the PC remote control

The infrared remote control, which is originated from Europe, is widely used to control home appliances, and the most widely and traditional usage is to control TV. The remote function provides greatly convenience for people, and brings revolutionary changes on TV. The preference to TV program can be expressed only through one small button.

So, when we mention remote control, no one feels strange, because the control usage of infrared remote control on TV has been popular for several decades.

But, with the development of the PC multimedia, home appliance, the appearance of PC remote control is just in the recent years, because the appearance of PC is very short and constantly changed. Now, no one no longer doubts the necessity of adding an set of remote device for the multimedia player.

Usually tv built-in infrared sensors, but the pc does not.Therefore, we must provide infrared receiver (infrared sensor) for the pc, usually have the following forms:

1.PS/2 receiver: included PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse,standard ps/2 device, no drivers.

2.RS**2 reciever: RS**2 level,serial port, connected the computer com (rs**2) port directly,Need drivers or provide API (application program interface)

3.USB receiver: USB keyboard and mouse standard device, no drivers when it been used as a the HID device.

4.UART receiver: TTL level, compatible with RS**2 standard, need drivers or provide API (application program interface).

5.Specially designed pc or pc-like equipment, motherboards provide onboard infrared sensors, so we need not install the infrared receiver.
