Plunger type cylinder are also known as piston type cylinders, They are actuating cylinders in which the cross-sectional area of the piston is less than one half of that of the movable element. Plunger type cylinders are the most frequently used type in fluid power systems and they are designed for offering both push and pull functions.

To satisfy customers changing demands, piston type cylinders are usually manufactured into variable designs, such as single acting and double acting RAM cylinders, etc.
