Sodium Hypochlorite is a product obtained from the reaction of chlorine with a caustic soda diluted solution.
The commercialized product is an aqueous alkaline solution, containing from *0% to *3% of active chlorine, with a yellowish color and a characteristic smell.
Traditionally, Sodium Hypochlorite is found for sale in large
plastic bottles from *0 to *0 liters.
Sodium Hypochlorite is also known under the names of "Hypo",
"Liquid Chlorine" or simply "Chlorine". The last two are
inadequate, since "Chlorine" is, in fact, the name of another
product.
Sodium Hypochlorite has been used to disinfect of waters aimed for human consumption, disinfection of swimming pools water, home disinfection and hospital cleaning.
It is also used as raw material in the production of sanitary water.
Sodium Hypochlorite shows a characteristic that must be considered in any of the above mentioned utilizations. It is an unstable product under its concentrated form (*3% of active chlorine), and it losses, along the time, part of this active chlorine. This loss can be initially from 0.2% to 0.3% daily; after, there is a lower loss.
The utilization of concentrated Sodium Hypochlorite must be
realized only under supervision of a qualified
technician.

Waters)

constructed using 1 plastic bottle with a capacity for *0 liters
and with 1 plastic faucet at its base (dosing device).

water and 5 liters of Sodium Hypochlorite or *5 liters of water
with *5 liters of Sanitary Water.
The solution obtained of circa 1% of active chlorine is called chlorine solution and it will be dripping in the source.
The chlorine quantity that must remain in the water until its final utilization is known as "residual chlorine" and it must be controlled so that it be in a concentration from 0.2 to 0.5ppm (parts per million).
To verify that the chlorine concentration is compatible as desired, it must be chosen the faucet farthest from the source (inside the residences), and apply the simplified control method.
This being done, either open or close more the dosing device until reaching the desired residual chlorine content.
