The use of waxes in rubber compounds

to the ozone-rich atmosphere. Ozone, a highly reactive form of
oxygen, can cause significant degradation to rubber, leading to
cracking and deterioration of mechanical properties. Waxes act as
protective agents by migrating to the surface of the rubber and
forming a thin, impermeable film that shields the rubber from ozone
and oxygen.
