PERLITE

Perlite is a silica-based volcanic and acidic glass that has expands and becomes porous when heated to a suitable temperature. The demand for this mineral is increasing as it is widely used in many industries as raw or expanded. It expands when exposed to extreme heat, and the tiny air components created through this process transforms perlite into an extremely lightweight material. The expanded perlite is valuable due to its low bulk density, physical elasticity, chemical stability, and low heat/sound permeability. Having excellent insulation properties, this inorganic mineral has a highly absorbent surface and is also fireproof. USAGE AREAS: In Agriculture, it is used as a substance that increases the physical properties of the soil. Perlite increases infiltration reduces evaporation and provides economy in irrigation. It is preferred more and more every day as it provides the most suitable soil conditions, keeps the moisture by reducing water drainage, creates a better breeding environment for seedlings, and aerates the soil. It is used for soilless farming applications in the agricultural sector. In tomato, strawberry, pepper, lettuce etc. cultivation, provides high productivity with lower costs; and it becomes possible to obtain high-quality crops in soilless regions.

In the construction industry, it is widely used in areas such as insulation materials, insulated plaster and screed, cement or gypsum binder, filling material, lightweight tiles, pipes, or surface coverings.

It is also used in the process of paint filtration, in the paper industry, and the cleaning of wastewater.
In the textile sector, it is used in denim, combed cotton and other industrial productions. It is used as an additive in the ceramic and glass industry and as a heat insulation material in the industry. Perlite is used in the casting industry to obtain clean, strong, high quality and efficient castings. It does not burn, does not emit gas and does not react with metal during casting. Due to these characteristics, it is the only reliable mineral preferred for slag collection.
In oil, water and geothermal drilling, it is preferred as an additive to facilitate the cementing process, but also to remove water pollution caused by oil residues or other oily wastes.
