A nebulizer is a medical device used to administer medication in the form of a mist that is inhaled into the lungs. It is commonly used for the treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, and other lung diseases.

Nebulizers are particularly helpful for patients who have difficulty using inhalers, such as young children or elderly individuals with limited coordination or strength. They are also beneficial for delivering larger doses of medication or medications that require a longer duration of inhalation.

The basic components of a nebulizer typically include a compressor, which generates airflow, a nebulizer cup or chamber, where the medication is placed, and a mask or mouthpiece through which the patient inhales the medication. When the compressor forces air through the nebulizer cup, it creates a fine mist of medication that the patient inhales into their lungs.
