Phenoxyethanol (Phenoxyethanol) is a traditional
preservative. It is a colorless, slightly viscous, oily liquid
with a slight aroma and spicy taste. It is slightly soluble in
water but almost insoluble in mineral oil.
Phenoxyethanol
is used as a perfume fixative; an insect repellent;
an
antiseptic; a
solvent for cellulose acetate, dyes, inks, and resins; cosmetics
and lubricants; an anesthetic in fish aquaculture; and in
organic
synthesis.
Phenoxyethanol is an alternative to
formaldehyde-releasing.
