Dredge pumps are available with suction diameters from **0 to 1,**0mm; though customised pumps have been made beyond these parameters.
The material to be dredged is almost always abrasive, sometimes to extremes. The threat of wear does not so much lie in the direct cost of an item to be replaced, but in the resulting downtime due to installation, in the case of both larger and smaller vessels.
Important characteristics:
* Long working life in abrasive conditions
* Efficiency up to *2% (as measured in practice) resulting in lower fuel consumption at unchanged
production
