THAM is also called tromethamine or Tris. It is a very important biochemical and chemical raw material. It is used in many high-tech fields such as biochemical testing, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, coatings, surfactants, cosmetics, new materials, etc. Both are used. At present, the preparation of THAM products in my country is developing rapidly and gradually becoming mature.
 
Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane THAM
 
Application direction of THAM
THAM can be used to synthesize widely used raw materials or intermediates of oxazoline and oxazolidine all over the world; it belongs to the quaternary amine analog of AMP, and is the only ANGVS aminoethanol used to form azeotropic mixture with water; THAM is good Emulsifier, curing catalyst, crosslinking agent, resin ubizer and corrosion inhibitor. After THAM is combined with fatty acids, it is easy to emulsify paraffin wax to produce a polish with perfect gloss, leveling properties, water resistance and high transparency. THAM is a real catalyst for polyurethane foam reaction, and it can also be used as a vapor phase corrosion inhibitor for aqueous systems.
 
THAM process route
1. Hydroxymethylation: add nitromethane and calcium hydroxide in proportion, stir evenly, add dropwise formaldehyde, raise to a certain temperature and freeze, continue to drop formaldehyde, keep the temperature at ****0 degrees, when finished, stir and mix Add a little hydrochloric acid, keep the pH at 4.**5.0; then distill under reduced pressure at no more than *5 degrees, crystallize, and use the mother liquor.
 
2. Reduction: Put iron powder into the nitro compound reactor, turn on the condenser and cooling water, quickly stir and add *3% hydrochloric acid; when the material liquid reaches *3 degrees, add nitro compound, hydrochloric acid ***1; reduce the temperature to *0 degrees, and add hydrogen dropwise Sodium oxide, pH=*0.
 
3. Distillation: Put the processed filtrate into the distillation kettle. Vacuum distillation under reduced pressure; lower the temperature, add methanol, and close the vacuum. Stir and keep at ****0 degrees for 1 hour.
 
4. Crystallization: The crystallization kettle is opened and stirred, the feed liquid is cooled to ***6 degrees, stirred for *0 minutes, and filtered to obtain the crude tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane.
 
5. Concentration: transfer the material liquid to the concentration kettle, 0.**0.1MPa, no more than *0 degrees concentration, and put it to the crystallization process when the remaining 1/4 of the material liquid is left.
 
6. Refining: add distilled water in the refining tank, stir and add crude THAM, keep the crude product at *0°C to dissolve the crude product, add activated carbon, heat up to *0°C for 2 hours, stop the air and stop stirring, filter out the activated carbon, once the filtrate goes to the fine product to crystallize into THAM The finished product, the second filtrate goes to the concentration kettle.
 
7. Drying: Dry the finished product of THAM and pack it into storage after reaching the standard.
