Because AriZona feels it is important to use all-natural ingredients and no preservatives, all the company’s products go through a hot-filled process. This method heat pasteurizes beverages at very high temperatures and then fills them into a can or bottle thereby destroying all disease-producing organisms and bacteria that may be present. 

Many of AriZona’s competitors use a cold-fill process because it’s cheaper. Instead of heat pasteurizing, they use chemical preservatives in their products. As a result, a lot of the competitions' ingredient labels read like the periodic table of elements. The hot-fill process is more expensive, but it also makes for a better-tasting, healthier drink.
