Zeolites, being negatively charged, can bind positively charged ions in the pores. Positively charged are all the nutrients that plants need for growth.
A major problem faced by many farmers, is the removal of nutrients in the soil - especially nitrogen - which are carried away by rainwater and the waters of irrigation in the lower layers, where the plants are unable to use them.
