- "Extra class*" walnut kernels : uniformly light-coloured kernels with practically no dark straw and/or light lemon yellow and with no dark brown
- "Class I*" walnut kernels: kernels of a colour not darker than light brown. Light red/brown colours are possible for first class walnut kernels.
