1. Carbomer dissolves into clusters: This is because carbomer has very strong hydrophilicity. Powdery carbomer has very strong hygroscopicity. Like other hygroscopic powders, when it is put into water or other polar solvents by improper methods, it is easy to form clusters or not completely wet. Other powders will eventually decrease and dissolve after agglomerating, but carbomer is not easy to dissolve after agglomerating, because once the outer layer of the agglomerate is completely infiltrated, water is not easy to penetrate into the internal dry part, and finally agglomerate.



2, the transparency of carbomer gel decreases: This is because in some gel, in order to increase permeability, anticorrosion and solubilization, ethanol is often added as an additive, for example, disinfectant and gel free, of which ethanol is the main component, or its content can be as high as *5%. Carbomer gel is essentially a polymer aqueous solution. The stability of polymer solution is due to the existence of hydration film on the surface of the particle. The addition of strong hydrophilic non electrolytes (such as ethanol) will make the polymer solution flocculate.
