 Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI) are organic compounds that are manufactured with Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) resin and/or Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) resin to create Corrosion Control Packaging to stop rust.  

VCI works by emitting VCI molecules into the surrounding area, within an enclosure space, until it is completely saturated. These VCI molecules are safe, invisible and odourless.

When the VCI molecules come into contact with the air in the enclosure space, an ionic reaction takes place between the VCI molecules and the water molecules in the air.

The VCI molecules in the surrounding enclosure are hydrolyzed into VCI ions, which form a molecular corrosion protective barrier on the metal surface. This occurs through polarization, and thus passivate the substrate from atmospheric corrosion. It normally takes approximately *4 hours for the VCI ions to be absorbed on the metal surface.

VCI masterbatches are made with proprietary chemicals blended with polyethylene and other processing aids at a very high concentration level to get the required corrosion resistance. It is a Nitrite-Free anti-corrosion master-batch designed for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It can be blended with PP, LDPE, HDPE resin and then used on film blowing machine to produce VCI film / sheets, VCI Stretch Film, VCI Shrink Film, VCI Foam and VCI Bubble Wrap.
