Profile:
Typical applications for Multi Stage Steam Jet Vacuum Systems comprise plants for the rectification, evaporation, drying, sublimation, degassing, condensation, polymerisation and deodorising. Two Stage Steam Jet Vacuum Systems are predominantly used for the ventilation of turbine condensers.
 
Just as with other pump types, the compression ratio of counterpressure to intake pressure that can be achieved is limited. For suctioning from higher vacuums the total compression ratio must therefore be divided from the intake suction pressure to atmospheric pressure to several steam jet apparatus. The booster pressure and suction pressure are decisive for the number of stages.
 
Condensers are invaluable in Multi Stage Steam Jet Vacuum Systems. They reduce the process vapor load to the ejectors. Condensers can be placed before the Multi Stage Steam Jet Vacuum Systems(precondenser) or between the stages of a Multi Stage Steam Jet Vacuum Systems (intercondenser) to achieve this end. They condensate out both the motive steam vapor from an ejector along with any condensables handled by the ejector. This allows the following ejector stage to be smaller and use less steam.
 
Normally the condensers are horizontally mounted vapor in shell, however, they can also be designed as vertically mounted vapor in tubes.

Application description of power industry:

  • The efficiency of steam turbines in a power plant directly correlates to the pressure of the steam that exits the turbine. A shell and tube condenser is typically installed to capture and condense steam exiting the turbine. Multi Stage Steam Jet Vacuum Systems installed at the condenser outlet efficiently remove noncondensable vapors and the associated water vapor from the turbine condenser and accordingly lowers the operating pressure of the condenser which increases the amount of heat available for conversion to mechanical power.
  • The typical Two Stage Steam Jet Vacuum Systems designed power applications is a two-stage, twin element unit having duplicate ejectors for each stage; one element running and one element on standby . An additional , hogger, start up ejector is normally provided to evacuate the condenser prior to turning on the primary two stage system.
