* PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

1.  The Safety Sign is a batterypowered, 

2.  lighted, handheld Stop/Slow reversible sign to be used by crossing guards, highway-crew flagmen, traffic control officers, and others who control traffic. 

3.  Design intent is that the Safety Sign would be more visible, and hence more effective, than traditional signs or flags used in traffic-control situations.

* DESIGN FEATURES:

• The Safety Sign would be fabricated of lightweight sheet. The sign itself would feature a bright reflective paint to catch motorists attention.

• The shape of the sign would be octagonal — eight-sided, like a stop sign — and would be reversible, bearing the word STOP on one side and SLOW on the other.  The Safety Sign would be equipped with a sturdy, post-like gripping handle descending from its base.  The handle would be hollow, and incorporate an interior, removable, rechargeable battery-pack, and an On/Off switch on the exterior.

The battery-pack would power arrays of LED (light-emitting diode) lights: on the STOP side of the sign, the periphery of the octagon would be equipped with a continuous series of bright white, strobe or flashing LEDs, while the word "STOPitself would also be lit to similar effect.

Thus, even at night and at a distance, the approaching motorist would see the familiar outline of a stop sign, and, as he or she grew closer, the word STOP!

.• On the reverse of the sign, the word SLOW, and the periphery of the sign, would be equipped with LEDs, but these would strobe or flash in red. Thus, an approaching motorist would be prepared to stop by the shape of the sign,then, having slowed in preparation, would be flagged through, on SLOW. Directional arrows could be placed under the word SLOW and could be individually lit to indicate in which direction traffic should flow.

• The Safety Sign would be made available in various sizes from a hand held size up to the standard street sign size for increased visibility.

• The Safety Sign, a handheld, lighted, Stop/Slow sign to be used by those who direct vehicular traffic, would provide a dramatic increase in visibility over the signs and flags currently in use for this purpose. With its familiar stop sign shape, its battery-powered arrays of color-coded LED lights, and its reversible configuration — STOP on one side, SLOW on the other — the Safety Sign would warn motorists, day or night, at far greater distances than conventional flags or signs.

 • The Safety Sign would protect work-crews on the roadway; children at a school-crossing; police and EMS personnel handling an auto accident — and so many more. The Safety Sign would also protect the personnel who hold it as a signal — and the drivers who are to be controlled by its commands.

• Clearly, the Safety Sign is superior in every respect to its predecessors — unlighted, poorly visible flags and signs. Cleverly conceived and thoughtfully designed, the highly visible Safety Sign should find a sizeable market potential.
