Density sensor is mainly made up by radiation detector and the shielded radioactive sources. Density sensor is installed in the delivery pipe leading from the dredger pump, measures the solids concentration in the dredging mixture and sends the PCM signal to the host computer.   The mixture density is measured with the aid of an isotopic density gauge. Gamma rays from a radio-isotopes source consisting of Cobalt**0 or Caesium***7 are transferred through the pipe section, in which the mixture absorbs a certain amount of the rays. The non-absorbed rest of radiation is detected by NaI Scintillation crystal. It is a measure of the quantity of solids present in between source and detector.
