Croscarmellose Sodium is tasteless, white or grayish white free flowing powder, used as disintegrating agent in tablets, capsules and granules, it is usually regarded as a basically non-toxic and non irritating excipient. Common dosage in tablets: 0.5% ~ 5.0%
 
Solubility: insoluble in water, but the volume rapidly expands to 4-8 times of the original volume after contacting with water, insoluble in absolute ethanol or ether
 
Stability: stable in nature, but hygroscopic.
 
CroscarmelloseSodium is used as disintegrating agent for tablets, capsules and granules in oral preparations. It has disintegrating effect by capillary and swelling. This product is characterized by good compressibility and strong disintegrating power. In the tablet production process, this product is suitable for the direct tablet pressing process and the wet granulation tablet pressing process. In the wet granulation process, the crosslinked sodium carboxymethyl cellulose can be added in the wetting stage or in the drying stage (particle addition and particle addition), but the effect of addition is better than that of internal addition. Some studies have shown that the swelling of crosslinked sodium carboxymethyl cellulose in water > low substituted sodium carboxymethyl cellulose > hydrated microcrystalline cellulose and other common disintegrating agents; Whether the product is added internally or externally, the brittleness of the tablets will not be affected, and the disintegration time limit and release effect of the tablets prepared with it will not change over time. When used as disintegrating agent, the dosage can reach 5.0% (w/w), but it is usually 2.0% (w/w) in direct tablet pressing process and 3.0% (w/w) in wet granulation process.
