Charcoal is the lightweight black carbon and ash residue used as a source of fuel. It is produced from burnt or charred woods in the absence of oxygen so that whats left is an impure carbon residue. Nigeria currently ranks second to Brazil in the production of charcoal.

Most western countries prefer Nigerias charcoal because Nigeria is rich in tropical hardwood, which burns hotter and slower. Even though Charcoal is an old source of energy, Nigeria currently exports **0,**0 metric tonnes of charcoal annually.
