CALCIUM BORIDE
 
Property
The chemical formula of calcium boride is CaB6. It is gray powder, relative density 2.*3g/cm3 at *5℃, mohs rigidity 9. It doesnt smelt in water, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, dilute sulphuric acid. It can be eroded by chlorine, fluorine and hydrogen peroxide. It reacts with alkali quite slowly. At room temperature, CaB6 is stable, non-flammable and non-toxicity. CaB6 can work as semi-conductor and neutron absorption material.
 
Application

1. Working as antioxidant in carbon and magnesia bricks
2. Working as anti-eroding additives in dolomite carbon and magnesia dolomite carbon materials
3. Working as degasifier to improve the strength in high conductive copper and deoxidant in no-oxygen copper
4. Working as new material for neutron absorption material in nuclear industry
5. Working as new semi-conductor material at **0k in electronic parts
6. To produce high purity metal boride, such as TiB2, ZrB2, HfB2 and high purity boron-alloy, like Ni-B, Co-B, Cu-B
7. Raw material for BCl3 and other amorphous boron
8. To produce Ca3B2N4 with activator and other excellent cubic borides
9. Working as the rich-boron additive in boron-alloy
10. Working as desulphurization, deoxidation and rich-boron additive
11. Working as crystalization in special steel
