Blue Star features sky blue, star shaped flowers.  The Blue Star grows into an attractive, shrub like plant as it matures.  The rounded foliage is dark green with thick, leathery willow like leaves. Common name: shining blue star. The beautiful spring blooms attract  butterflies. Yellow fall foliage color.  Often occurs in sandy, rocky soil in the Ozark regions of Missouri. The name comes from *8th century physician, Charles Amson.  Beautiful coloring when planted in mass as a border.  Mix these fragrant blooms with other native plants for a lovely native garden or naturalized planting.
