Papase (Papase) is cream-colored to light-brown powder. It is often used to tenderize meat; it is used to clear beverages; it is used to soften the skin.

Papase is the dried and purified latex of Carica papaya L. (Caricaceae) fruit, which can digest protein in acidic or alkaline medium.

A pH value between 4 and 7 and *5°C to *0°C works best. It appears as light brownish gray to reddish brown particles or yellowish gray to yellowish powder. It has a peculiar smell and taste, and is not completely dissolved in water to form a milky white solution.

Commercial materials are prepared by evaporating juice, but pure enzymes are also prepared and crystallized. In medicine, it has been used topically under various conditions similar to the use of pepsin. It has the advantage of operating under a wider range of conditions, but it is generally less reliable.
