Fused Cast Refractories are the most widely used materials in
glass melting furnaces, frit kilns and occasionally some foundry
plants(skid rails of reheating furnace). They can be classified by
their zirconia content, which basically defines their corrosion
resistance, into 3 families: AC**3, AC**6
&AC**1
AC *3: The compact microstructure of AC *3 enables it to have very
good corrosion resistance to molten glass. It very rearely results
in stoning and has very limited chances to cause blistering and
othe defects to glass, so AC *3 is the most common product used in
the glass furnace.
AC *6: Despite of the similar eutectic crystal as AC *3, AC *6 has
more free baddeleyite crystals in chain structure and less vitreous
phase, which further improve the corrosion resistibility and reduce
the potential defects in glass, so it is recommended to be used in
sections where glass flow is faster and temperature is higher, such
as melter sidewall, paving, doghouse, etc.
AC**1: AC**1 has the most free baddeleyite crystals among the fused
cast AZS families, which are evenly distgributed within the block.
Its corrosion resistibility is the best and thus it is usually
recommended to be used in the most demanding positions to balance
the furnace life.

Typical applications: (Glass furnace melter sidewalls,paving,superstructures,working ends, feeder channels; frit furnace melters, etc.)
