A fungicide which features good effect and broad spectrum; has good activity to almost all fungous diseases, such as powdery mildew, rust, glume blight of rice, downy mildew, rice blast etc.
The acute rat oral LD*0 was >5,**0 mg/kg. The acute rat dermal LD*0 was >2,**0 mg/kg. The acute inhalation LC*0 in rats was **2 mg/l for males and **8 mg/l for females. Azoxystrobin was not a skin sensitizer in guinea pigs. The active ingredient was found to be a slight irritant in rabbits for both eyes and skin. There were no corneal effects. Based on these results, azoxystrobin was classified as Toxicity Category IV for acute oral toxicity and skin irritation, and Category III for acute dermal, inhalation and eye irritati. After synthesizing experimental analogs of both substances (over ***0 were tested), azoxystrobin was found to be the most active and stable combination. The pharmacophore of azoxystrobine is the β-methoxyacrylate portion, which is present in the active compounds from both Oudemansiella mucida and Strobilurus tenacellus. Azoxystrobin binds very tightly to the Qo site of Complex III of the mitochondrial electron transport chain, thereby ultimately preventing the generation of ATP
